Matthew Broderickand Alan Ruck will soon be back together on the big screen almost 40 years following the premiere of their beloved film, Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

People magazine reported that the actors were present during the production of the upcoming movie, The Best Is Yet to Come, which is a remake of a 2019 French film. While on the film's Vancouver set on August 20, Broderick, wearing a navy suit, was seen walking behind Ruck, clad in a maroon ensemble. Ruck and Broderick's The Best Is Yet to Come characters are "best friends who, through a colossal misunderstanding that creates a ticking clock, hop in a car to find the estranged son of one of them and also try to do all the things that life has prevented them from doing," per Deadline.

Before starring as Cameron Frye in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Ruck appeared in the play Biloxi Blues alongside Broderick. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly in November 2020, Ruck suggested he was cast as Cameron because of his past work with Broderick, who famously played Ferris Bueller.

"It was a happy accident that I was cast in that movie because I had just done a play with Matthew in New York," said the Succession actor.

Ruck also shared if he believed Ferris Bueller's Day Off would ever get the reboot treatment. According to the actor, he has been approached through the years about a possible reboot.

"There's always little rumors and different writers will come up to you at parties or award shows or whatever and say, 'I've got a great idea!' And then, you never hear anything more about it. Back in the day, John Hughes used to talk to Matthew briefly about maybe having Ferris go to college," said Ruck to the publication.

He then pitched his idea for a Ferris Bueller's Day Off reboot.

"I always thought that maybe they should wait until Matthew and I are in our 70s and I'm in a nursing home, Cameron's in a nursing home and Ferris comes and breaks him out," said the 69-year-old.
