Al Roker is getting a little emotional as he's readjusting to being an empty nester again
The 'Today' weatherman shared that his son has returned to college and his granddaughter Sky is back home with her parents
Roker said it was a "bittersweet weekend" at his house
Al Roker is feeling emotional as back-to-school season starts.
On Monday, Sept. 1, the Today weatherman, 71, shared a carousel of photos on his Instagram as his son Nicholas, 23, headed back to college and his granddaughter Sky, 2, returned home to her parents.
Roker could be seen smiling next to his son and wife Deborah Roberts in one sweet photo as they took a family selfie. Nicholas towered over his parents, who stood next to each other. Other photos show Roker's granddaughter Sky in a grocery store and playing in his garden.
"Well, my baby boy is back off to college and my baby granddaughter is back home with Mommy and Daddy. It was a bittersweet weekend," Roker wrote in his caption.

Alongside Nicholas, Roker is a father to daughters Courtney and Leila. He first became a father in 1987, when his daughter Courtney, 37 – whom he shared with his late ex-wife Alice Bell — was born.
Following his divorce from Bell in 1994, Roker wed Deborah Roberts in 1995, and the couple went on to have two children together: daughter Leila, 26, and son Nicholas.
This past July, Roker shared a sweet Instagram Reel to celebrate his son Nicholas' 23rd birthday. In the clip, which was set to Lenny Kravitz's "Happy Birthday," Roker included several pictures of his son from his childhood into adulthood, saying that he's "very proud of the young man he has become."

On an October 2024 episode of Today, the news anchor was joined by his daughter Courtney as they shared their recipe for salmon burgers from their cookbook, Al Roker’s Recipes to Live By: Easy Memory-Making Family Dishes for Every Occasion.
The chef and recipe developer and her husband Wesley Laga welcomed their daughter Sky Lara in July 2023, making Roker an official "pop-pop." After cooking up their burgers, Wesley entered the set holding the 15-month-old, who had tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Oh, were you crying, sweetheart?" Roker asked as he took Sky from his son-in-law. "You wanted your pop-pop. There we go," he said while bouncing his granddaughter in his arms.
