Amy Duggar King is drawing clear boundaries when it comes to her family.

Amid ongoing estrangement from her Uncle Jim Bob and Aunt Michelle Duggar, as well as tension with some of her 19 Kids and Counting cousins, Amy is opening up about her complicated relationship with her extended family.

“I’ll just say boundaries are just very important,” Amy explained in an exclusive interview with E! News shared on Sunday, July 27. “If you are not necessarily lining up with mine, then there's going to be a line drawn. Unfortunately, that's where we stand.”

Though Amy once shared a close bond with her cousins, including Jana Wissman, Jessa Seewald, and Joy-Anna Forsyth (all née Duggar), on the popular TLC series, the 38-year-old has distanced herself from them in recent years. However, she emphasized that she’s no longer bitter about the situation. "For a little while, I was really sad," she admitted. "It was really difficult to make that choice, and now I stand by it."

However, not all her Duggar relationships are distant. Amy has found solace in her relationship with cousin Jill Duggar Dillard, who also separated herself from the Duggar family’s strict Christian Fundamentalist lifestyle. “Jill and I are extremely close,” Amy gushed. “We trust each other. We have this great cousinship.”

Amy and Jill’s bond grew even stronger while filming Amazon Prime’s Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, where they supported each other while revealing personal trauma. "We were very vulnerable with each other," Amy said, emphasizing their mutual support. "I'm her cheerleader for life, and she's mine. So it's like, 'Let's do this together.' We're stronger together because we can rely on each other."

Amy made occasional appearances on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting as the family’s beloved Cousin Amy from 2008 up until its cancellation in 2015.
