A man was killed and nearly a dozen suffered injuries in an early morning shooting in Atlanta, police confirmed to USA TODAY.
Atlanta Police Department officers responded at about 1:30 a.m. on Monday July 28, to Edgewood Avenue in the Sweet Auburn neighborhood to a report of shots fired, police said.
The identity of the man killed was not immediately known but according to WXIA-TV police said he was in his late 20s.

Police Capt. Jeff Childers told the outlet at least 10 others injured in the shooting were believed to be in stable condition, but one was in surgery early Monday. It was believed the shooter or shooters were on foot, Childers told the outlet.
Witnesses told officers they saw "a group of armed young men walking down the street" shortly before shots rang out, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
A motive in the shooting was not immediately known.
