Serena Williams has been in the news this past week. But this time, it's not because of yet another tennis-related accolade.

The former World No. 1, 43, has spoken out recently about her 31-pound weight loss thanks to the drug known as GLP-1.

But as is the case with medications in this realm, the drug can yield a number of side effects — and a fellow public figure wants the world to take note.

Jameela Jamil, known for her starring role on The Good Place, took to Instagram this weekend to shed light on the potentially "devastating" side effects of GLP-1, which Williams has been promoting of late.

"The thing I feel most uncomfortable here is that celebrities have access to doctors most others don't have access to. These 'miracle' weight loss drugs come at a price," the image of Jamil's post on Sunday, Aug. 24 reads. "The side effects can include paralysis of the gastric system, pancreatitis, cancer, hair loss, osteoporosis, severe malnutrition, muscle mass loss, depression (there have been reports of suicide), thyroid issues, blindness, and they can really wreak havoc on your metabolism."

The English performer, 39, continued in her post's caption, "I GOT THIS INFORMATION FROM THE WEBSITES OF THE DRUGS IN THE SIDE EFFECTS PAGES. You can go see for yourself. Go ahead and take the drug or anything you like… Please just make sure you have access to proper healthcare before you make the decision to take any drug that has drastic results."

Parade reached out to Williams' representatives on Aug. 24 for comment.

Williams opened up to People in an interview published Thursday, Aug. 21 about her transformation thanks to GLP-1, with nothing but positive things to say about her experience.

"It was crazy because I’d never been in a place like that in my life where I worked so hard, ate so healthy and could never get down to where I needed to be at," she told the magazine.
