Adam Scott almost left Hollywood forever.
During a recent appearance on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast, Scott said he almost gave up acting for good after losing the role of David Fisher on HBO’s “Six Feet Under” to Michael C. Hall.

“It’s good that I didn’t get it because it wouldn’t be nearly as good if I had done it because he was perfect and incredible,” Scott said. “He’s incredible, and I wasn’t ready.”
Poehler asked how close Scott was to getting the part, and Scott replied, “He and I tested for it.” The “Parks and Recreation” star then added, “That hurts.”
“It was the one where I was like, ‘I might stop doing this. I think that it’s time for me to read the tea leaves and walk away,'” Scott said, adding that it was especially “painful” considering it was “the show” of the early 2000s, and “eclipsed all other shows” during the time of its release.
Even though Scott missed out on the starring role, he managed to land a guest spot on “Six Feet Under” Season 2 as the boyfriend of young David Fisher’s brother. The “Severance” star called the experience “fun” and described Hall as “lovely.” However, he maintained that losing out on the role was still a painful learning experience.
“But yeah, that was a blow,” Scott said. “That was hard. But it’s also important that you have those experiences.”
Hall earned an Emmy nomination for best lead actor in a drama series for the role in 2002.
