David Boreanazrevealed he didn't love one of Emily Deschanel's habits while they were on the set of their hit Fox series Bones, which aired from 2005 to 2017.
People magazine reported that Deschanel and Boreanaz opened up about starring as Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan and Agent Seeley Booth while on the Bones: 20th Anniversary Retrospective panel. While speaking on the August 16 panel, Boreanaz said he wasn't happy when Deschanel and some of their castmates would sing musicals. According to the Angel actor, it was "driving [him] crazy."
Boreanaz then said he "like[s] musicals, but it got to a point where I'm like ..." Before the actor could finish his sentence, Deschanel said she didn't believe he was a fan of musicals and challenged him to "name a song from a musical."
"Sure. Annie. 'The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow.' You know?" replied Boreanaz.
While being interviewed by People during the 20th Anniversary Retrospective event, Deschanel said she thoroughly enjoyed singing musical numbers with her castmates, specifically Eric Millegan, known for his role as Dr. Zack Addy, during her time starring in Bones. She clarified that said singing got them in "trouble" while on set.
During the People interview, Deschanel also shared whether she would be interested in playing Brennan again.
"Never say never. I don't know about a revival. I don't know if that would ever happen, but I'm open to it," said the actress to the publication.
During a joint March 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Deschanel and her Bones co-star, Carla Gallo, who played Daisy Wick, discussed the possibility of a Bones reboot. Gallo immediately said she would like to film as her character again. She explained that she and Deschanel have reconnected with their former Bones castmates while recording their new rewatch podcast, Boneheads.
"It brings me so much joy," said Gallo in the Us Weekly interview.
Deschanel also said she is "open to it," as she enjoyed working on Bones.
