Jason Isaacs remains humble — despite his career success.
The longtime actor, 62, admitted in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the Televerse Festival in Los Angeles that he still feels like an “imposter,” even with his many credits and accolades.
Isaacs, who is nominated at the 2025 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Timothy Ratliff in The White Lotus season 3, explained those feelings ahead of the prestigious event, taking place on Sept. 14.
“I get completely starstruck by everybody whose work I admire, and not just the other people in my category, in every category, and all the people who aren’t nominated,” the Harry Potter alum said. “There’s a lot of extraordinary talent around. I always feel like an imposter.”
Isaacs is nominated in his category alongside fellow White Lotus stars Sam Rockwell and Walton Goggins, as well as Paradise’s James Marsden and the Severance trio of John Turturro, Tramell Tillman and Zach Cherry.

“I will feel like an imposter on Emmy night too, and I kind of look forward to it and I’m kind of scared of it,” he continued, adding that it will still be “lovely” and ”exciting” to see everybody at the awards show.
Despite previously winning awards at the Satellite Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Empire Awards and other shows for his roles in Case Histories, Mass and Star Trek Discovery throughout his decades-long career, this year’s Emmy nod marks Isaacs’ first Emmy nomination.
“I try not to think about it honestly. I don’t mean that it’s not incredibly flattering and lovely. I just know that I’ve been doing this job for a very, very long time, and very rarely do you get this kind of attention,” Isaacs said.
“And it’s not a coincidence. I didn’t do anything better or different than I normally do. I just had a fantastic part,” he further explained. “Mike White creates these three-dimensional surprising human beings that behave in the kind of jagged or particular ways they do, and asks of all the actors in it to go to places they don’t normally go. And so it’s such a privilege.”

In season 3 of The White Lotus, Isaacs portrayed Timothy Ratliff, a wealthy businessman vacationing with his wife, Victoria (played by Parker Posey).
The couple — along with their three children Saxon, Sarah and Sam (played by Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook and Sam Nivola, respectively) — are among the people vacationing at a resort in Thailand.
The entire Ratliff family faces individual challenges and journeys of self-discovery throughout the season that culminate in a wild finale.

“I felt like I won an award just getting the part and getting to do it and getting to stretch all those muscles and have all those challenges,” Issacs told PEOPLE.
