Sarah Jessica Parker revealed during a recent Q&A that there's "a very clear line" between herself and her character Carrie Bradshaw — except for one food distaste they share

She said the crew of Sex and the City and And Just Like That… knew not to serve her this particular food

The actress also shared how she and costar Cynthia Nixon would "eat every single thing that was put in front us," even as dining scenes went on "for hours and hours"

Sarah Jessica Parker has walked in Carrie Bradshaw's Manolos for years, but she says there's always been "a very clear line" between herself and the character. However, the two do have one thing in common: a distaste for parsley.

During a recent Q&A with Evan Katz Ross, hosted by Threads, the actress, 60, spoke about her aversion to the common herb and how it came to be integrated into her portrayal of Carrie in Sex and the City and And Just Like That…

"It must've been just being around the writers and then hearing me say to a server, 'Hey, so parsley, all other herbs are fine. It's just parsley,' " she mused.

"But that's very specific," Parker noted, "and I think I always felt like there was a very clear line actually between myself and Carrie — but that was one that was strikingly familiar."

Aside from parsley, the star was always game to eat anything on camera, even as filming sessions went on for hours.

"[Costar] Cynthia [Nixon] and I made it our business to eat every single thing that was put in front us. We ate everything, and we'd be shooting those coffee shop scenes in the original show for hours and hours," Parker said.

"And then they'd break us for lunch, and the props team would come and start clearing it away, and they would refresh it after lunch," she continued. "And no matter where we were in the meal, we're always like, 'No, no, no, no, no, we'll take it with us.' "

"Free food!" she jokingly added.

While Parker kept a distinct boundary between herself and her role as Carrie, she does admit to raiding her character's well-stocked closet from time to time.

Just recently, she "was invited to a birthday party in England" and needed an outfit in a pinch. "We were already nearby, so I pulled from the archive," she recalled during the Q&A, noting, "It's one of the few occasions I've ever pulled from the archive for personal use. It's not every day."

Earlier this month, Parker paid tribute to Carrie following AJLT… showrunner Michael Patrick King's announcement that the show would be ending after season 3. (The finale aired on Aug. 14.)

Alongside a montage of clips of Carrie (and best friends Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda), she reflected on her character's adventures in life and love with a lengthy message on Instagram.

"...She broke hearts, heels, habits. She loved, lost, won, tripped, leaped, fell short and into puddles. Aged, got wiser. She has made the hardest, worst and best decisions," she wrote on Aug. 1.

Parker continued: "Traveled near and far for the new, the vintage, friends and love. Changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City. She had dates, drinks, boyfriends, a husband and truly great loves and romances. She hailed cabs. She ran in heels."

The actress also noted how Carrie "has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years, writing, "I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have."

All seasons of And Just Like That... and Sex and the City are available to stream on HBO Max.
